JLR has replied: we hoped for more

I-PACE Owners' Advocacy Group

JLR offers individual case review but no commitment to the lasting battery remedy members asked for. We are disappointed.

A car waits in the left lane beside an amber temporary signal on a wet British country road.

We asked JLR for a fair, lasting answer to the high-voltage battery problems members have reported. Its 2 October response offers individual case review, but no commitment to a wider remedy. We had hoped for more.

Full high-voltage battery replacement led our member survey. JLR has not committed to a replacement programme or explained how continued case-by-case repairs will deliver a durable result. We are disappointed, especially after members have described delays, repeat workshop visits and uneven support. We will keep pressing for a clear plan.

What JLR said

JLR says members' circumstances and model years differ, and some reported vehicles have not been subject to battery campaign actions. It does not consider one remedy suitable for everyone. It asks owners to provide their VIN and contact its Executive Office for individual review. JLR says it wants to keep talking with the group; its engagement is not an acceptance of liability or agreement with our concerns.

Each owner's circumstances matter. They do not explain why JLR cannot set out a consistent approach to recurring battery and service problems. Our survey comments describe delays, repeat visits and poor communication, alongside different faults. These are self-reported experiences, not fleet-wide failure rates.

JLR's separate H576 engineering programme shows that a more targeted approach is possible: its retailer instructions match selected VINs to specific battery modules for free replacement, with a £500 voucher after the work. JLR describes this as a study of a small number of 2019–2020 cars, not a finding that every selected module is faulty.

Members have also raised concerns about 2022-and-later cars. Campaign status can change. Owners continue to report first or repeat H570 notices.

On H570/H571, JLR says owners who have had the campaign carried out can drive, park and charge as usual. Follow the advice for your own vehicle; we cannot assess its condition from JLR's general statement.

If you want JLR to review your case

Email UKEO@jaguarlandrover.com with “iPACE owners advocacy group” in the subject line. Include your VIN, as JLR has requested. Briefly describe the fault, repairs, effect on you and outcome you seek, and keep a copy. Contacting JLR is your choice. If many owners write, JLR will see the scale its individual route must handle.

If you contact JLR, please tell contact@ipace-owners.org whether the route helped, what JLR offered, and whether the result resolved your concern to your satisfaction. Please also tell us if you were asked to pay for diagnosis or repair. A short summary is enough; you need not forward private correspondence or your VIN unless we ask for it securely.

We have not shared member records, VINs or survey responses with JLR. We would seek your explicit permission before sharing your information ourselves.

We will review JLR's response with our advisers and update members on next steps.

Correction to our meeting update

Our 25 September update said JLR had recognised poor and inconsistent customer experiences. JLR clarified that it was concerned to hear members describe those experiences and wanted to investigate them. We have corrected the earlier wording.
