What we have asked JLR to do next

I-PACE Owners' Advocacy Group

We have set out the group-wide commitment I-PACE owners need and asked JLR to respond by Friday 2 October 2026.

Our first meeting with JLR was a useful introduction. The follow-through now matters. We have written to JLR again to set out the commitment affected owners need and the timescale in which we have asked to receive it.

We don't plan to publish the correspondence in full, in case doing so affects the group's interests, but members should know what we have asked JLR to do and what happens next. We want to be as transparent as possible without compromising the work being done on members' behalf. We hope members understand our caution.

Response deadline: Friday 2 October 2026

The response needs to give affected owners immediate confidence that the battery fault and its consequences will be addressed fairly and consistently.

What we have asked for

Our request is for a clear, board-level commitment to resolve the high-voltage battery fault and its effects for affected I-PACE owners. The detailed solution can preserve JLR’s position in relation to suppliers and other third parties, but it must start with acceptance that owners need a fair, consistent resolution.

The September member survey gives JLR a clear steer. Full HV Replacement was the winning outcome. Where a dependable repair that restores the vehicle to its intended specification cannot be provided, owners also strongly supported a fair buy-back based on an unaffected value rather than a market value depressed by the battery problem.

We have also asked JLR to provide the meeting notes prepared by its Head of Legal for Supply Chain.

Individual cases cannot be the whole answer

JLR’s interest in member experiences and individual vehicle records could help it understand how owners have been affected. That work may be valuable, but reviewing cases one by one cannot replace a consistent approach to the underlying battery fault.

We have not offered JLR access to member records or VINs. We do not have permission to share them. If JLR makes a useful proposal with a clear purpose and proper safeguards, we will explain it to members and seek explicit consent from each person before sharing any of their information.

Why we set a short deadline

The battery problem has been recognised and documented for years. Some other manufacturers facing comparable battery faults have used full replacement programmes. At the time of writing, the remedy for H572 has remained “to be announced” for nearly eight months, while our original letter setting out the group’s objective has been with JLR for seven weeks.

Some owners are already facing severe financial and practical consequences. Asking for a clear commitment now does not require JLR to settle every implementation detail by Friday. It asks JLR to confirm that the fault and its effects will be resolved through a fair and consistent approach.

Where things stand

JLR’s concern about customer experiences and its wish to rebuild confidence among existing Jaguar owners are welcome. No substantive commitment has yet been made on the battery issue. We hope that changes this week and that constructive work can follow.

If the response does not give members reasonable confidence, the group will assess its next steps, including the legal avenues available. As soon as we hear anything from JLR, we will update the group.

A larger group carries greater weight

1,600+ Members joined Live membership total
3,000 Our next major milestone Equivalent in scale to about 10% of the UK I-PACE parc

More than 1,600 owners joining in little over two months has already created a credible collective voice. Imagine the weight of 3,000 members, backed by vehicle histories, battery-health readings and service records. That scale would be much harder to overlook.

If you know another I-PACE owner, please invite them to join. If you are already a member, make sure your vehicle and service history are up to date. Membership gives us reach; good evidence gives that reach authority.
